The YWCA Health & Fitness Program is comprised of robust offerings to develop healthy lifestyle habits for children, teens and adults. The focus is on taking each individual where they are at and connecting the mind, body and spirit to build strength, endurance and new skills.
Programs include aquatic classes in swimming, youth-swim lessons, adult-swim lessons, swim-team training, lap-swim and open swim. We also offer gym programs.

Learn-to-Swim Club
The YWCA in it’s pursuit of children being safe in and around water as well as its desire to help fight obesity, has reached out to schools in Methuen and Lawrence to participate in our Learn-to-Swim Club and Water Safety Program. The purpose of these programs is to teach children about safety in the water, as well as how to swim. Children are picked up at school with our staff on board the bus and driven to the YW for a swim lesson. It is a popular program with both children and parents, and parents like the quality program with adult supervision. The cost of the program is very affordable, and the YW follows American Red Cross curriculum. Registration is on a month-to-month basis with no membership fees. We are pleased to have the following schools participating in the program:
- St. Monica School, Methuen
- Lawrence Catholic Academy, Lawrence
- Marsh School, Methuen
We hope to be adding more schools in the future!
