The YWCA of Greater Lawrence was founded in 1892 to provide safe housing, job training and support to women moving from rural communities and overseas to work in area mills and shops. Today, we serve more than 15,000 women, children and families from throughout the Merrimack Valley every year. We are an affiliate of the YWCA USA, the nation’s oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization working for social and economic change.
The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Women’s Health Advocacy
With a focus on removing barriers to affordable, quality health care, our Women’s Health Advocacy Services program has been working to help women and families access vital health services since 1993.
We offer affordable, co-ed after-school care for children 5 to 13 years at four sites in either Lawrence and Haverhill, along with a range of recreational and enrichment options.
DV, SA and Housing Services
We provide crucial support and transitional housing to domestic and/or sexual violence survivors and homeless teen moms and their families, while also offering comprehensive services to survivors of all ages of abuse and violence.
Early Learning Center
Our award-winning Early Learning Center offers affordable, literacy-enriched child care focusing on building a strong educational foundation for infants and toddlers aged 1 month to 5 years.
